Local Schools more populous than expected.....

More people are enrolling to Anchorage schools. Why? As the people say that its a "Rural Migration". Meaning Alaska Natives from rural villages are moving due to high energy, fuel, and food prices. The Anchorage School Districts is spending 1.7 million to hire 18 new teachers and other staff. Gloria from the Cook Inlet Tribal Council said that it would be hard for Alaskans because of the high fuel price. She said that there probably would be more people moving in from the villages because people are getting their PFD's and energy rebate of a total of $3269. She says that it is cheaper here in Anchorage but the fuel and rent cost lots.
I think that this was a unquestionable article. It shows why people are moving maybe for a better education for their children or a cheaper life. Who knows? They probably just wanted to get away from their village. Which could be understandable. We know what village life is all about. We grew up here in Rural Alaska. We know how cold it gets, how high gas, energy, and food prices boom. Its crazy but its understandable, and we natives know we can make it out here in Rural Alaska.:)

I think that what you say is true. It's hard to imagine big families staying out in the bush though. I don't know either way, it's not so hectic out here in the villages... I like you blog. =)
